(Last year we visited three countries). <\/p>\n<p><b>Regional Variations<\/b>: In Spain, the pret\u00e9rito perfecto is used more frequently than in Latin America, especially to talk about recent events. Personally, my recommendation is yes. On one hand, because if we omit topics, we won\u2019t be able to understand them when we come across them, and on the other hand, because it\u2019s always better to know everything so that we can later choose what to use and what not to. And in the specific case of the pret\u00e9rito perfecto, it\u2019s not the only compound tense in the Spanish language, so, in addition to being a useful verb tense on its own, it provides the perfect foundation for learning the others.
