They agree in grammatical gender and number with the noun they accompany, and in spoken language, they are usually used up to the tenth (10), but in the media, television, etc., their use beyond it is more widespread. For their abbreviation, the number is usually written accompanied by the degree symbol: 1\u00ba, 2\u00ba, 3\u00ba. Let&#8217;s see what they are from 1\u00ba to 29\u00ba in singular masculine and feminine forms. From 30\u00ba onward, as we will see, writing them as two words is more common, although writing them as a single word is also accepted. Let\u2019s look at some exceptions for these tens and examples of usage. <\/p>\n<p>For 11\u00ba and 12\u00ba, in addition to und\u00e9cimo and duod\u00e9cimo, the forms decimoprimero and decimosegundo are also accepted.<\/p>\n<p>The forms <i>primero <\/i> and <i>tercero <\/i> are shortened to <i>primer <\/i> and <i>tercer <\/i> when they precede the noun, but they remain unchanged when they come after it. This rule applies to all tens; for example, the same happens with vigesimoprimero and vigesimotercero. This is important because ordinal numbers usually precede the noun.  <\/p>\n<p>He visto el primer cap\u00edtulo de la serie. I have watched the first episode of the series. <\/p>\n<p>*He visto el primero cap\u00edtulo de la serie (agrammatical).<\/p>\n<p>He visto el cap\u00edtulo primero de la serie. (Rarely used). <\/p>\n<p>As we mentioned earlier, in spoken language, ordinal numbers are usually used up to 10\u00ba, and beyond this, cardinal numbers are generally used instead.<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; \u00bfA qu\u00e9 piso vas? (What floor are you going to?)<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; Al sexto, \u00bfy t\u00fa? (To the sixth, and you?)<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; Al once. (Literally, to the eleven, correctly translated to the eleventh).<\/p>\n<p>They are commonly used as adjectives to describe nouns that follow an order, such as in the case of events and anniversaries (<i>hoy es nuestro segundo aniversario de bodas, today is our second wedding anniversary), <\/i>repetitive actions <i>(es la tercera vez que te pido que saques la basura), <\/i>cap\u00edtulos, episodios, temporadas, etc., (<i>el sexto episodio de la serie es el mejor, the sixth episode of the series is the best, segundas partes nunca fueron buenas, sequels were never good), <\/i>possessions we tend to change over time (<i>mi primer auto fue un Renault, my first car was a Renault), <\/i>resultados deportivos (<i>el equipo qued\u00f3 tercero al final de la temporada, the team finished third at the end of the season), etc.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>In the case of <i>primero<\/i>, it can function as an adverb:<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; \u00a1Quiero helado! (I want ice cream!)<\/p>\n<p> &#8211; Primero termina tu comida. (First, finish your food).<\/p>\n<p>They are also used to designate centuries and certain titles. In these cases, Roman numerals are typically used:<i>Constantino III se autoproclam\u00f3 emperador romano de Occidente en el siglo V. (Constantine III self-proclaimed himself Roman Emperor of the West in the 5th century).<\/i> <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1c47c10 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default qodef-elementor-content-no\" data-id=\"1c47c10\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-228c66b\" data-id=\"228c66b\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e46115e elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget-mobile__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e46115e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Now let&#8217;s look at the rest of the tens, hundreds, etc. From the 30\u00ba onward, as mentioned earlier, the recommendation is to write them separately and with the respective accent marks (trig\u00e9simo primero, 31\u00ba), although for tens writing them as one word is accepted, in which case the accent marks are dropped from the tens since the phonological accent is placed on the second word (trigesimoprimero, 31\u00ba, trigesimos\u00e9ptimo, 37\u00ba). Ordinal numbers written as a single word only show variation in grammatical gender and number in the second component: <em data-start=\"119\" data-end=\"136\">vigesimoprimera<\/em>, <em data-start=\"138\" data-end=\"156\">vigesimoprimeros<\/em>, <em data-start=\"158\" data-end=\"176\">vigesimoprimeras<\/em>. When written as two words, both components vary in gender and number: <em data-start=\"248\" data-end=\"267\">trig\u00e9sima primera<\/em>, <em data-start=\"269\" data-end=\"290\">trig\u00e9simos primeros<\/em>, <em data-start=\"292\" data-end=\"313\">trig\u00e9simas primeras<\/em>. The most frequent use of these we\u2019ve seen is, for example, for the promotion in the press or on television of events that have many editions: <i>En 2025 se celebra la vigesimonovena edici\u00f3n de la Fiesta de la Vendimia en Mendoza.
